Japanese violinist, Aya Murakami performs from baroque to new commissioned pieces on both modern and period instruments. She is a founding member of Quatuor Akos whom she won the third prize of the 13th Mozart International Competition in 2018, and has performed together in the prestigious concert halls and chamber music festivals such as Konzerthaus Berlin, Schloss Nymphenburg München, Academy of Athens, Festival Format Raisins, Festival Flam', Le Chant de la Rive, Les Musicales de Ristolas, Matinée Musicale d'Arles. Aya appears also in the ensembles and orchestras such as Orchestre Victor Hugo Franche-Comté, Orchestre Philharmonique de Luxembourg, Le Concert de la Loge, Ensemble Pygmalion, Les Ambassadeurs.
Aya studied in Kyoto City University of Arts (KCUA) from 2007 to 2011 under Sonoko Numata and Reiko Otani. Very active in chamber music projects, she has founded the Quartet Minerva in 2009, and has been invited to attend the music seminars such as Phoenix OSAQA (Osaka) with the Japan String Quartet, and Project Q (Tokyo) for the masterclasses given by the Juilliard String Quartet, the Tokyo Quartet and the Shanghai Quartet. The Quartet Minerva has won the first prize of the Nagoya Ensemble Festival in 2010.
After graduating the KCUA with a bachelor of music degree in violin performance in 2011, Aya moved to France where she studied under Jérôme Akoka. In the same year, she entered in the Conservatory of Paris (CRR de Paris) to develop the orchestra playing skills under Luc Héry. She was selected as an academy member of the Orchestre de Paris for the season 2012, where she performed under the direction of Paavo Järvi, Christophe Eschenbach and Alexander Vedernikov. From 2013 to 2018, she enrich the musical palette by studying the baroque violin in CRR de Paris under Patrick Bismuth.
Aya performs also as a soloist. She was invited to perform with the Primo Passo Orchestra (Mendelssohn's violin concerto, Kyoto, 2011), the Pleasant Orchestra (Saint-Saëns's violin concerto, Kyoto, 2015), the Izumo Junior Orchestra (Tchaikovsky's violin concerto, Izumo, 2015) and the San-in Philharmonie Orchestra (Sibelius's violin concerto, Matsue, 2018). She gave several recitals in the cities such as Kyoto, Toyama, Fukuoka and Izumo between 2014 and 2019.
