Inspired by the exhibition "L'Archet Révolutionnaire " held in London in 2015, the Akos Quartet starts to explore the historical interpretation by applying original classical bows. They have offered since it's beginning varied concert programs with both classical and modern bows depending on the repertoire approached. They have already performed in many venues and festivals such as the Konzerthaus Berlin, Schloss Nymphenburg München, Academy of Athens, Festival Format Raisins, Festival Flam', Le Chant de la Rive, Les Musicales de Ristolas... and appears punctually in the French radio program "Générations France Musique, le live" presented by Clément Rochefort.
Their first album « Erdödy » (double album of the complete work of Joseph Haydn Opus 76) released in March 2023 from the label NoMadMusic thanks to the support of the Foundation Roi Baudoin - Fravanni and Musique à Flaine, has been multi-awarded by CHOC Classica (June 2023), “Sound recording of the month” by the same magazine, 4 Diapasons, “Disque du Jour” on the radio France Musique and “Air du Jour" by Musikzen.
The Akos Quartet has received the 3rd Prize and Bärenreiter Prize at the 13th International Mozart Competition Salzburg in 2018, the “Adolfo Betti Prize-best string quartet” at the International Virtuoso & Belcanto Competition in Lucca in 2020 as well as the "Prix de la Révélation Ensemble 2016" at La Roche-Guyon, France. They join Le Dimore del Quartetto Network since 2019.
The Quartet draws its inspiration, benefits advices and collaborates with great chamber musicians such as Luc-Marie Aguera, Jérôme Akoka, Gustav Rivinius, Claire Thirion, Belcea Quartet, Chiaroscuro Quartet, Quatuor Mosaïques, Quatuor Ysaÿe ...
It is also their pleasure to extend the chamber music repertory by collaborating with richly experienced artists. They have performed together with Yoko Kaneko, Yovan Markovitch, Gustav Rivinius, Virginie Robilliard, Louis Rodde, Claire Thirion and Laurent Wagschal...
Eager to transmit the art of classical music and more particularly of the string quartet to the new generations, the Akos Quartet is at the initiative of diversified school projects ranging from the multi-year partnership with a nursery/primary school in the Doubs region (France) to the conference in destination of musicology students in universities.
The Quatuor Akos receives the instrumental support offered by the Foundation Culture et Musique (France).
