Katya was born in Moscow into a family of musicians and migrated to Israel at a very young age. When she was four, Katya started playing the recorder and went on to win many national and international competitions in Israel, Germany and Canada.
At the age of 13 Katya took up playing the viola and was awarded the America – Israel Cultural Foundation Scholarships with distinction for many years both with viola and recorder. At the age of 18 she was chosen to perform as a soloist with the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra under Maestro Zubin Mehta. Some of the other highlights of her early career were solo performances with the Rudolstadt symphony orchestra and with the Conservatoire de Paris Orchestra conducted by David Stern. From 2005-2008 she was a member of the Israeli Contemporary String Quartet, and now collaborating with other chamber music groups such as Salagon Quartet, Anima Eterna and others. Later on Katya became interested in early music performance practice. She completed her bachelor and masters degrees with the baroque violin at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in 2015.
She plays as principal viola and violin with Profeti Della Quinta, as well as being a regular member of
Ensemble Pygmalion, La Cetra Baroque Orchestra, Bachakademie Stuttgart, Anima Eterna, Les Talents Lyriques and several other groups.
Since 2016 Katya is the principal violist of the Kammerorchester Basel.
